SOS Children's Village Hojai
came up after the massive communal violence
of Assam in the year 1983 and has successfully
entered into the 23rd year of dedicated and
committed service to the needy children of Assam.
The socio-economic condition of this region
is very poor and the children brought to the
Children's Village belong to families below
the poverty line. The Children's Village is
spread on 8.5 acres of land and has 20 family
homes, a Kindergarten and other necessary infrastructure.
Currently 186 children (92
boys & 94 girls) are growing under the loving
care of 20 mothers and aunts in the Children’s
Village. 183 children are attending different
schools in the neighbourhood and boarding schools.
So far 56 marriages have been solemnized in
the Village.
For the development of children,
many activities are organized in the Village
like music and sports coaching etc. Besides
children, mothers & co-workers in the Village
participate & celebrate SOS functions, National
events, Religious festivals with joy & enthusiasm.
SOS Kindergarten
SOS Kindergarten Hojai was
established in the year 1998. Since its inception
the school is preparing the smaller kids of
the Children's Village and the children from
the locality for their higher studies in formal
institutions outside. As a result of strong
foundation at the kindergarten, our smaller
children are doing well in their respective
classes in various schools.
SOS Youth Facility
Hojai has two youth facilities
for boys. One is Arunodaya at Tezpur and the
other one is a visiting boy's facility located
at Guwahati. At Arunodaya, presently 19 boys
are living and in Sopan facility 12 youth are
living. Both these facilities are being operated
from rented accommodation.
SOS Girls' Facility
At present 22 of grown-up
girls are under the role of Girls' Facility,
Hojai (All the girls are engaged in different
vocation and job like Beautician, Nursing, Fashion
Designing, etc. 8 more girls are under the care
of SOS Girls' Facility, Faridabad.
